This work tells the story of natural signals collected by the artist during her time in nature. The artist projects various phenomena and relationships in human life in the insights given by nature, observing and recording the interest in human intuition that distinguishes life-bearing beings only by "the act of seeing."

“I reflected upon many things that were unable to take root in life, in fragments of the world I cut out and collected. Life demanded that I prove something in exact forms, but my answer was scattered in a void. The guaranteed silence in the realm of nature created a space for me to embrace time, so my thoughts could move deeply and slowly. As obscure appearance carries complex meaning, the memories converted into images were freer than reason. Hence, memories of the present and live senses were connected to senses of other points in time, and time-space—both moving forward and looking back—was connected to the moments I had chosen, further extending to become a map. At that moment, obscure signals became inner conviction”.

In the course of interpreting the book, the book designer collected pattern images the artist earned during the work and converted them into graphic works to complete the cover and sequence. The outer cover, inner cover, end-sheets of the book are all made up of natural colors that are embedded in the work and used eco-friendly paper considering the texture and properties. The blue rough-textured paper used on the inner cover reminds of reefs in the sea, the soft green paper shows the sense of the forest and the thin white paper resembles misty air between beings.

The book was completed within a careful process of silk printing, offset printing, and hand-binging. It is produced in a limited number of 150 copies, and all books are numbered by the artist herself. All the text contained in the book is written in Korean/English.

이 작업은 작가가 자연에서 보내는 시간동안 수집한 자연의 신호들에 대한 이야기다. 단지 '보는 행위'만으로 생명을 가진 존재를 구분하는 인간의 직관에 대한 흥미, 살아있는 그물망인 자연이 보여주는 조화와 공존의 모습들을 관찰하고 기록하며 작가는 자연이 주는 통찰에 인간의 삶 속 다양한 현상과 관계들을 투영한다.

"30대를 넘어서면서 나에게 세계는 점점 버거운 것이 되었다. 숲을 거닐며 젖은 흙의 향내를 맡고 뒤엉킨 가지들을 물끄러미 바라보거나 물가에서 지는 해의 윤슬을 지켜보는 것만이 무해한 영역의 시간이었다. 자연은 어머니도 아버지도 되었다. 다정함, 단호함, 끈질김, 노력, 잔인함, 두려움과 공포, 포용, 냉기와 온기, 무한함, 연결과 관계에 관한 많은 모습들이 오고갔다. 그들은 깊이 관여하지도, 방관하지도 않았으며 단지 펼쳐지는 현상들의 처음과 끝을, 그리고 끝에서 다시 시작되는 처음을 보여주었다.

잘라내어 수집한 편편의 세계 속에, 삶 속 뿌리내리지 못한 많은 것들을 비추어 보았다. 삶은 나에게 정확한 형태로 증명하기를 요구했고 나의 응답은 허공에 흩뿌려져 있었다. 무해한 영역 속 보장된 침묵은 생각이 깊고 천천히 움직일 수 있도록 시간을 품을 공간을 만들어 주었다. 모호한 모습은 복합적인 의미를 가지고 있어, 이미지가 된 기억들은 이성보다 자유로웠다. 현재의 기억과 살아있는 감각들이 다른 시점의 감각들과 연결되었고, 내가 선택한 순간들(이미지)에 각기의 시공간이 연결되고 확장되어 하나의 지도가 되었다. 모호한 신호들이 내면의 확신이 되는 순간이다."

디자이너는 이 책을 해석하는 과정에서 작업 중에 수집한 패턴이미지들을 취합하여 그래픽 작업으로 변환해 표지와 시퀀스를 완성했다. 책의 겉표지와 속표지, 간지는 모두 작업에 내포된 자연의 색지로 구성하였고 질감과 물성을 고려한 친환경 종이를 사용하였다. 속표지에 사용된 푸른색 거친 질감의 종이는 바닷 속 암초를, 부드러운 녹색 종이는 숲을, 얇은 평량의 흰색 종이는 안개를 연상시킨다.

이 책은 실크인쇄와 옵셋인쇄, 수제본의 정성어린 공정을 거쳐 완성되었다. 150부 한정으로 제작되었으며 모든 책은 작가가 직접 실제본 한 후 넘버링 했고 책에 포함된 모든 텍스트는 한글/영문으로 병기했다.
